The Food Database

Our data comes from the USDA's (United States Department of Agriculture) Agricultural Research Service. We have used their latest data (2004), which is known as the Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 16-1. We have used selected values from their database in the interest of ease of use.

This database is a very good resource for food nutrient data. If you look at calorie or gram counter books that list 1000's of foods, you will probably see this as their source.

For more information, see their web site: USDA Nutrient Database

Adding to the Food Database
Do-It! lets you add your own foods to the database. For more information, see Working with the Food Database
